Is there a 'one shot' function on the 2000xl?

is it possible with the 2000xl to have the 'one shot' function where when you hit a pad the other pad playing stops in pre record, i.e. doesnt just play over the top of it, like the 2500 can do. I know this can be achieved with the mute pad function but is there a way in which you can do this without having to select pads to mute??

yeah, if you go into Program mode and select the pad bank you're using, start hitting the pads. then go to parameters and for each pad you hit info will come up. Scroll over to Voice Overlap and change it to mono instead of poly. you can also try note off which means the sample plays for as long as you hold down the pad.

the pads still overlap when set to mono...

mono only works when pressing that one pad over and over again

pad mutes are the only way to stop one pad when pressing the other, or simply just set it to note off and play it there like thesis said

Sorry to be pedantic but a One-shot sample is a sample that plays to the end regardless of the duration pf the pad or key pressed and it also ignores midi note off messages. ie. once triggered the sample will always play to the end.

What you're referring to is a programs mono mode like on a monophonic synthesizer. There is no way to do this on the MPC other than using a mute pad function or using note off mode.

It would be a nice function to have.
