rookie question

mpc 2000 (og) im trying to load sounds (wav) via zip sczi, and assign sounds,(create a program?) seems like the files to big. I get ?????? same thing I got when I tried loading via cd rom, only to find out it only reads snd. files off cd! when I load a much smaller folder it seems to see it, But still cant assign sounds.......ANY help greatly appr......demsee.

Are you using the 2000 classic.If so it doesn't read folders and you have to burn the cd in a certain way(that I don't know of right off the top of my head).My 2000 classic reads wav files just fine and snd so that shouldn't be an issue.

What do you mean "it seems like the files too big"? What specific error message, if any, are you getting?

2k os v 1.70 added the ability to read waves.

2k cannot read folders.

You can only load according to the max ram you have in your machine.

I've got 1.7, and I upgraded the memory to 32mb. You say it cant read folders?, That could be my problem? When I load the sounds onto the zip disk from my computer I jus drag the whole folder of sounds into the zip drive. Do I need the drag one sound at a time? When I try to put them in the mp, Its like it just shows me the whole file, I cant just scroll through the sounds?......also yeah 2000 classic.

As stated above the original 2000 cannot read folders so all your samples
must be in the root directory of the disk

Wavs must be 44.1k 16 bit.

Filenames should be 8 characters long max and hav the .wav extension.
It also does not like certain characters in filenames....

Does not like certain wave formats. BWF wave, for example.

There is also a limitation on the amount of files on a disk.

AFAIK a pc will only read the first partition of a multi-partitioned MPC
formatted disk.(some one correct me if I'm wrong)

You should cop the Mpc program editor for the pc.
That way you can load more samples via a program in one go rather than
load them individually off a disk.
