A row of pads died on my 2000 Classic

Small update, i went ahead and peeled off a big part of the pad sheet, and stuck it back down.
The air bubbles under the sheet are gone, but the broken pads are still broken.

So i guess the airbubble itself wasn't the problem.

Bumping this cause I'm paypal sending money to VST right now, I also need to know how to put on the new one without f*cking it up.

and mpc_user, the air is supposed to be under the black square like a small square balloon, or "sandwich" of air. Once the air escapes the sensor stops working. I haven't peeled mine off yet, what should I expect?

Hey Fung45, good to hear you ordered that pad sheet replacement.

Mine hasn't arrived yet, so i can't tell you anything about replacing it.
Let's hope the pad sheet part includes a small install guide.

It's just a sheet stuck to the mpc though,
so what mnh2410 said is probably the most important:

"Make sure u put it on properly cause once that thing sticks done it can be hard tryin to get it to come back up."

I can however tell you about my experience pulling the sheet off (pics below):

1. Disonnect pad sheet connector
   
   • slide the small black plastic piece off first
   • now you can slide out the sheet from between the connector
2. Get the sheet loose under a corner
3. Peel it off

Now about the 2 air bubbles i had, and the one you seem to have:
The pad sheet is actually two sheets stuck together,


My 2 air bubbles were under the sheets (MPC <-> sheet), not between the sheets itself.
I don't think it's supposed to be like that, because they were both in a random place.

Anyway, after peeling off the sheet and messing around, the same pads are still broken, and the working ones are still working.
So i guess it's rather something electronic (connector or the connection lines on the sheet) than something physical (how it's stuck on).

Well, there's nothing to putting on a new sheet back on the MPC.

Peel off the old one, and stick on the new one.
The piece of the sheet that slides into the connector on the MPC, might be a little too long though. So just cut off a piece, making it just as long as it is on the old/other sheet.

That's it.

Yep, I replaced mine I got a friend to help align the new one with the holes and stick it down in the right spot. Smoothed out the air from the middle outwards and i had to trim down the connector with some scissors before clamping it back in it's place. My air bubbles were between the sheet and the metal plate, not inside the sheet as i originally thought. The only problem with mine was the glue inside the air bubble got old and dried up. I can't complain, after all the unit is 10 years old. Easy fix, took <5 minutes.

yo how do i pull the ribbon out of the black piece?

i opened my mpc up today with my brother around... he noticed that the ribbon was out at the right end, and those were the pads that would mess up... i have no clue what ima do with this extra pad sensor sheet i just bought lol
