Hey whats up people

Iv been lookin at this site whenever i get the chance for a while now as am a noob when it comes to the production thing, ya dig. THANK YOU to any1 that posted sumthin that was of use to me.

This question might of been asked 100000 times but my lack of knowledge on this is really stoppin me from takin a hobby im genuinly interested in

Question:

I have an mpc2000xl, a laptop with just fruity loops for now, a midi controller and a microkorg.
What i want to do is come up with a simple set-up which allows me to play the midi controller and for the sounds/synths from fruity to be recorded onto the mpc. Also if possible to get sounds from the microkorg onto the mpc.

I would need to know any extra equipment/names of equipment id need to make this possible and all the connections i would need to make. Any info at all would be much appreciated, coz i am REALLY stuck.
Please 4give the rookie status, but i have to start from sumwhere, ya dig.

Iv looked at a number of threads that are all very usefull in there own ways, but are totally overwhellming to me.

Thank u all

In your case the most logical setup would be:

Midi controller output to MPC Midi input.
MPC Midi Output 1 to MicoKorg and Midi Output 2 to Laptop Midi in.

This setup assumes that the MPC is the master MIDI sequencer and also assumes that your latop has Midi in and Midi out.

You will need to send Beat clock to Fruity loops if you are using the sequencer and you will need to set up Fruity loops as a slave in the Midi setup.

You will also need a mixer or a multiple input soundcard to hear all the machines at once.

You will not be able to record sounds directly and in context from fruity loops to the MPC.

The other way is to use FL as the master sequencer.

In this scenario it's Midi out from laptop in to Midi in on the MPC. Midi out from Controller Keyboard to Midi in on the laptop. And Midi out 2 on the laptop to the Microkorg. If you don't have an extra laptop Midi output use the Midi Thru function on the MPC. So you'll need to take a Midi out to the Microkorg from the MPC.

Midi Thru and all other details are explained in the manual.

So, with this set-up and connections made, would the sounds from fruity loops be recorded onto the mpc, or would i need to buy a track recorder for this ?
