MIDI with MPC2000xl

Hi everyone!

I am not sure about something so I came here to ask you about it.. I have an MPC2000XL and I've recently bought a MIDI-keyboard/controller from M-Audio: Ozone. It's a nice, small controller.. Anyway; I bought it because I wanted to pull at least one synth from my laptop and this one has the soundcard in it.. and I wanted to sync my laptop with my MPC2000XL so I needed a MIDI patch, and it has it.. 2 MIDI-outs..

My question is: is it possible to control anything in MPC2000XL with a MIDI controller? - Because I've tried it, and all I can get is to control the 'play', 'rec' and similar functions, but not the notes, velocity, attack time, release time..nothing like it.. (btw. I don't have efx & 8-ind. out. boards in MPC). Does my MIDI controller have any use on my MPC now (except for being a MIDI patch for sync with my laptop)?

did your controller come with a manual or some kind of chart that tells you how to setup the knobs/buttons on the controller? you can route the different knobs and stuff to control different functions on another midi device/software.

Thank you very much for your replies. I am glad to see that people really want to help out.

I read the MIDI Filter Function section as long as every other section that has something to do with MIDI functions in MPC2000XL manual, but still nothing. I've also read the manual of my M-Audio Ozone MIDI-controller and tried to do as it said, but still nothing... On audio software (exp. Fruity Loops) everything works great (knobs, keys...), but when I try to use the same on MPC, I can't program them in no way. I am not even sure that it can be done, but that's a little silly to me because the seq./samplers name is "MIDI PRODUCTION CENTER"...

Anyway; if you have any more suggestions..I would be more than happy to hear them out!
