firmware update problem- mpc stuck on boot

hi all,

i have just bought a 2000xl, which had os1.14 installed. i tried to install a card reader which didn't work, so i tried to update the firmware to 1.20 as i have seen recommended might help.

everything seemed to go fine, the process went as normal and said it was successful, except after pressing a key to reboot the unit stuck on 'loading mpc2kxl.bin'. after waiting around 20 mins i tried a reboot without the floppy, where i was told 'insert 2000xl disc!', so i did, and it got stuck again. i've tried putting the 1.14 disc in as well, to no avail- same problem.


please tell me i haven't bricked my new unit, and that either it takes a long time to load up again or there is some kind of emergency reflash procedure. i've searched around, but i can't see anything like this...

this wont answer ur problem but i think i need a new os too. where do i get? cuz my mp cant read the 2g sd card i just bought so i wanna know if i need the a new os?

it's available on the akai website. (akaipro.com)

through more luck than judgement, i managed to get 1.14 back on, but now i have to reload the os from floppy every time i switch the unit on. i'm just about to post a topic regarding this... PLEASE help if you can!!

don't use sd cards and it acn only work with 1 gig cards buddy. sorry. compact flash is the way to go. peace

well im using a 512 sd card. but the 2g was on sale only reason y or else i would gotten a cf. owell . will the 1g work with the os the mpc is or do i still have to upgrade it?

thanks for the reply tonspion- i made that thread not too long after this one! i have another problem with a card reader now (technically it's the original problem that these two stemmed from) but i keep solving my own problems as soon as i post them

just use th e1.14 os or whatever you are using and get a 512 mb cf card and your good to go. then later on if you wanna 1gb card then get that 1.20 os
