2000xl output(s) technical question

I read an interesting article about recording studio procedure and MPCs recently. It stated that some producers and engineers avoid using the multi outs to track their music. Instead of laying ten individual sounds per pass, they lay the sounds one at a time (or 2 mono) through the main outs only. The reason for going through this time consuming process is they claim the main outs sound better than the individual outs. This is apparently common practice among many producers and engineers in the studio.

I found this interesting and wonder if anyone with extensive technical knowledge of MPCs can shed some light on this topic. Wondering if there's a valid reason for this or not.
