Just a lil MIDI Help

I have a MPC 2000 connected to my computer with an edirol um-1x, and I have my midi contoller running to the MPC, so I can control Reason 3.0 on the computer. Now my question is how can I play more than one instrument in reason 3.0? For some reason when the MPC records the MIDI data from Reason everythings cool. Then I decide i need another track try to record the data on track 2 midi 2a and I cant play sh** and if I switch the instrument in reason it cuts off what I had previously recorded. Can somebody help out. Let me know what Im doing wrong.

Select the device for the "midi in" on the top of reason.

Make sure the MPC MIDI out is connected to the MIDI in of the um-1x, and make sure the um-1x is connected to your PC and all good to go.

Open Reason, go to Edit, Preferences, then move to the Advanced MIDI page.

Under External Control, you have 4 buses you can use. Translate that into 4 different MIDI devices. If you had 4 different MIDI devices (such as 4 different um-1x's) coming into your computer, you would be able to have independent control of 64 MIDI channels. One device, you have 16, etc.

SO, set BUS A to your um-1x. If you want to sync to the MPC, you'd need to set that for the MIDI Clock Sync device as well. Now close out the Preferences.

Back in the main window of Reason, take a look at the top. You'll see a button for each of those 4 Buses, and below that you have the 16 MIDI channels for that currently selected BUS.

On the MPC, set the track type to MIDI (and not drum) and you're all set.

Add the mixer, then add a device like the Subtractor. Up top, on MIDI channel one (or whatever MIDI channel you are using on the MPC) hit that little drop down arrow and you will see the Subtractor (or whatever devices you have in the session) as choices for that MIDI channel.
