I don't get it!

How does an analog mixer (like a mackie1202) work with a mpc2k??

I know i can connect the outputs from the mpc to the inputs in the mixer

and eq and tweak the tracks, but then what? how do i send back the

tracks i eq-ed with the mixer back into the mpc?


I don't get the whole process !!!

Somebody please help me understand how analog mixers work!!

A mixer is used to route different instruments/sound sources to different paths. It's also used to adjust the levels coming in or out of various equipment. Why would you want to route the sound coming out of the mpc back into the mpc?

Depending on what your doing.......A mixer can do a lot of ish, but mainly you would use it to mix sounds together then use some type of machine to record to. dont mean to be smart but thats what it does. your can run sounds through the mixer use the eq's to tweak and then sample with the mpc. the list goes on, a mixer can do a lot.

Now i think i'm getting a hold of it...

so....if i'm gonna tweak ma beats from the mpc, i should use the stuff mixer/eq inside it, right? and not an external analog mixer.....

and So you mean when i sample a phrase(or something) from ma turntable, i could make it <turntable-->mixer-->analog mixer-->mpc>

right????

so that way i wouldn't need a very expensive scratching mixer....right??

the analogue mixer is at the end of that chain the mixers roll is like a final touch... u make your track on what ever gear u have, then run what ever or how many outputs u have to the mixer to mix everything together and with the sends and returns u add processing points like reverb , compress, gate and run to a recorder of some sort... so your mixer is like where everything get a polish... if your still twist go to www.howdothingswork.com and type in audio mixer and learn the basic ground work of a audio mixer

u say you have a dj mixer so think of it like this take a dj mixer and give it the ability to hook up 16 turntables with eq for each turntable, level, and add a way for each turntable to send a signal to a device that adds reverb and chorus and send it right back(send and returns)... ok with that example replace the the 16 turtables with the 8outs and stereo outsof the mpc the outouts from your keyboards .....got it know

MPC> mixer board> some form of multitrack recording?
