motif es vs triton extreme

Hey what's up ?
I thought I'd post this question?? here instead of on the
Motif forum that way I can get a unbiased response.

I own the Motif es and to be honest I dont think they
had hip hop in mind when they created this keyboard,
unless you sample and make your own instruments..
I own the mpc2000xl ,proteus 2000 and also have the
mo-fat the x-lead and beat rom in it and find myself
mostly using my sound module for sounds. I had a korg
n364 that had some serious sounds and miss that keyboard.
I could always find a few good sounds to use from that
keyboard to go with my sound module. The only good thing
that I find the Motif good for is some of the arps it has?
which I'm pretty sure somebody has already used to death.
The Motif seems to be directed towards jazz ,church, rock
and roll and a few other types of music.
Whenever I find myself just using the Motif for sounds
my music starts to sound all soft and too musical like I'm
doing some movie dialogue for lil house on the prairie.
Does anyone on this site have the Motif and the Korg Extreme?
I would like to know what keyboard do you find with more of
today sounds for r&b and hip hop ??
I just bought the Es like 6 months ago, besides the abillity to
sample and make your own voices which I feel is a necessary
requirement with the Es , Does anybody think I should sell my
Es and get the Triton extreme. I only have room for one keyboard
and I'm trying to make this decision a right one , I know that I'll
probaly take a loss on the Motif maybe four to five hundred dollars
on the sale and purchase of the Triton Extreme .
Does anybody think that the Extreme is worth it

I have the Motif ES6 as well and I have demo'd the new Triton Extreme but this is a MPC 2000/2000XL thread tho! It will be moved soon! But I will let cha kno what I think tho! The Triton Extreme is tight if u alwayz wanted a Triton the Extreme is the one to cop is it better then the Motif ES NOPE! Keep yur Motif ES playa u can make hip-hop wit it too! U have to tweak the presets never just use the presets playa alwayz tweak sounds. That's my opinion tho u should run to the guitar center and demo the Triton Extreme for yurself u might feel different from what I feel!

The thing with the presets tweaking, if you tweak em do they stay that way ?
I noticed that the es has a bunch of duplicate sounds , The user banks and the program banks are the same i think they could've been a little bit different.

u can save yur tweak sounds meseratibeats! U had the Motif ES for 6 months and didnt kno that Try the Fantom-X I heard its suppose to be hot too but I dont think either one is better then the Motif ES!

Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I work at a music store. I won't mention the name of the store (I was told that I shouldn't do that by my manager) but, it's probably the biggest store that you would think of. In any case, we sell both the Motif ES as well as the Triton Extreme. I would buy the Motif ES any day over the Triton Extreme. As a matter of fact, I ordered a Motif ES6 last week and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival to my home. It has the most truest sounds that I can think of. I would suggest that you go to one of the Motif ES clinics that they are having. You should be able to find the tour schedule at www.motifator.com. or Yamaha's site. I attended one last week at work. The Moitf ES is an incredible piece. There is a lot to it that doesn't meet the eye. I was blown away by it's capabilities. It's way more than just sounds. Even though the sounds outweigh any of the other major considerations. I don't think you would be disappointd with either one but pound for pound I would go with Motif ES. That's my two cents.

I knew that you could save the
tweaks its more like do they stay
in the flash rom memory ? or do I
save it to the smart media or my
external drive, also do I have to
load it up every time I want to use
the sounds that I tweaked. I haven't
really got to tweaking sounds .
I basically was trying to learn about the
arps and the sampling capabilities, it's
crazy how the wave form is displayed
on that little screen it makes it hard to trim
a sample. So I use sound forge to make
sample edits . I'll admit this keyboard is a
monster with all of the capabilities , but i find
the mpc best for sequencing and drums.
what I plan to do is either get the new roland
xr sound module or the triton sound module.

The Fantom X is a hot keyboard but, still not touching the Motif ES. I wrestled back and forth between buying the Fantom X or the Motif ES6. I decided on the Motif ES6. My favorite thing about the Fantom X is the "Rhodes" patches and the distorted guitars, which are excellent, other than that, I couldn't see any other thing to choos it over the Motif ES. It's sounds are good but, if you play the Fantom X and compare sound for sound, the Motif ES takes the prize. I did it myself at the store where I work. Like you, I sequence with the MPC2000XL but, I need more sounds. I've been using my Proteus 2000 for a couple of years and I want to expand. Also, I wanted something that I could take with me while away from home and still be able to work. The Motif ES will allow me to do that. Of course, the Fantom X would too but, it's not as hot; it's close but no cigar.
