Is the FX Board good?

I've been told that the FX board is nothing really and that the MFC-42 and stuff are much more useful, just curious to how everyone thinks about it?

Depends on what you understand by quality FX ... If you're thinking highend tc-electronics then the answer is no, if you think usefull fx that will enhance your mix if used wisely then i'd say yes. But once again FX are a personal taste no ?

To cut a long rambling short I have the fx board and I find it useful. That MFC-42 I don't know a bout it's basically a filter isn't it ? If i wanted a dedicated filter then I would go for a Sherman Filterbank (Belgian Quaility is it obvious where i come from ?)

Well, If you gonna get protools and you have the dosh to get a multi input sound card so you can record all the tracks of your mpc separately in protools then i would indeed say forget about the fx board. But I don't do protools, i mix the outputs of the MPC down on my mackie and send a stereo group to my shitty 4-track so the MC has a beat to spit on. I guess that's oldskool but it works for me

Ya no doubt! I have an HP Laptop, but will probably save up for a Apple G4 and the 002 rack
