Getting MPC Songs/Sequences onto a CDR

How do you do it?

Record and mix each track from your MPC into Sound Forge?
Record whole song into soundforge?

The reason I wouldnt do this is because I only got a phono in (headphone jack) on my laptop and the soundquality aint great.

Is there a better way??

U need a mixer at least to make your life easier....You can forget about 'track by track' into soundforge. That is not its purpose. Its an editing tool. You can record a stereo file into it tho.(For Multi tracking, look to Logic...Cubase...Adobe...Protoools etc)

The smple way to do this (record stereo file), assuming u only have a MPC and a laptop, is to use a cabel with phono (Red/white) one end (plug these into 1/4 jack adapters) and a mini jack the other. The mini jack end will go into your sound cards 'line-in' port. Set up your soundcards properties (and Soundforge) to recieve signal, then your good to go

Thats the easy way....The sound quality and your options is something you cant compromise on. If your tools aint up for the required job, u need to invest.

yeh thats how I would currently do it, I have a mixer, but what further purchases would you suggest?

Soundcard with multi Ins/outs (Delta series) > Outboard for MPC (Perhaps) > Leads > Multi Track Software (Logic ...Protools etc) > Midi Box (For sync purpose) > Burning Software (Nero) > Blank CDR > Skillz J/K

List your setup in full (Computer Spec etc)

I currently use Acid 4.0, my soundcard seems to be able to handle most actions from that but the only input is like a small head phone Jack and the recording quality is poor. I guess it would be better to have what I would decribe as mixer phono jacks (red and white) going into my laptop - Could I get a lead with those inputs that would plug directly into say my game controller port??? Then I got my Mpc xl with 32 ram, 4 gb scsi hard drive and CD rom. In addition i got a Roland MC303 and a Yamaha DX100 which I guess I could use as midi controllers, and also a SP303 sampler.

Let me know what you think I could do cos i wanna improve my production quality on a shoestring!

What about your laptops capabilities? Your gonna need a better soundcard 'hands down' (USB/Firewire - External)

Yeh I think a new PC is on the cards if its specifically for music what sort of spec/soundcard should I consider?

you can definitely get something decent for that type of paper, how about a delta 1010?

Im thinking as a cheap alternative I could use a terratec phono/usb converter?

This would work wouldnt it as its not even dependant on having a sound card??
