Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I'm new at actually sampling I'm more of a synth guy..but I'm getting into sampling more..so I have a few questions I was hoping you guys could answer.

1.) Is there a way to change the tone/pitch of the original sample and then make that changed sample the same length as the original?

2.) Is there a way to extend how long the sample plays out so that its ending does not sound abrupt?

3.) Is there a way to make the mpc only play the full sample if you hold your finger on that pad, as opposed to just hitting it once and having it play the whole sample?

Thanks..

A: the 2000xl has the time stretch feature that achieves this if i understand you correctly. Check the manual

2.) Is there a way to extend how long the sample plays out so that its ending does not sound abrupt?

A: I dont know about extending it but in the params window you can adjust decay and attack of the sample. Window key in this screen helps.

3.) Is there a way to make the mpc only play the full sample if you hold your finger on that pad, as opposed to just hitting it once and having it play the whole sample?

A: Also in the params window you can select one of three options per pad .. NOTE OFF, MONO, or POLY .. check the manual

Above is how it works on my 2000xl, not sure but i think the 2000 is fairly simular.
