Bass Sound Off A Record

Yo wats good this may sound like a stupid question but Ive found this bass sound on a BS&T record. Is there anyway I can do the 16 levels but have all the sounds be the same length instead of being like an 8th note long if its half an octave up from the original sound? I wanna be able to construct my own bassline from this one sound, is that possible?

Yeah you can tune it with the slider and play the slider while you record the sequence.

yea but when you tune, it will shorten the note the higher it goes. the lower it goes, the longer the note.

im not sure how you would do that. but you can still get a pretty good bassline by filtering the bass from the record, turning on 16 levels and using note off....just gotta get creative.

^hes right. you can use the slider with a bass sound and it wont make it longer or shorter. just remember to change to note off.

most of the time i find that 16 levels isnt enough for a bassline, so in that case autochromatic tuning works even better, giving you 64 notes on its own program.

set a loop on the bass sample and turn it to note off and set the 16 levels.

i'd probably use something else to resamle/re play the bass one shot, if you can loop a portion and its seemless inside the mpc, that may be sufficient. but i think youll need to imploy some other device/software to achieve the timestretching/pitch algorithm for the best results.

wouldnt the slider technique be hard as in u couldnt get the exact pitch on that u wanted, like u might slide it to a possition where the sample is maybe less than a half step out of tune? is there a function to do the autochromatic tune without doing it manually? sorry if theyre stupid questions becuz I cant even use my mpc right now to test it out i still need to save up cake for monitors and a turntable cuz my sh*t got robbed

Yes and it's described in the manual in details.

To answer your doubt, you can always use the STEP edit screen and a numeric buttons to quickly correct wrongly inserted values while playing with the slider.

No prob. But don't forget to turn the Slider off once you are done sequencing otherwise it will just play one note at the same pitch the whole sequence.
