Can You Chop in Zones on the MPC 2000?

Can you chop up a sample in zones like on the XL with the original MPC 2000. i tried to do it like it says to do it on the XL but I couldn't. Is this only an XL feature?

move the start and end point of the zone and extract pieces you want to chop out . its the same thing.
