what's the benefits upgrading the OS???

sorry for a NOOB question....i just got my 2000xl about 6 months ago (USED)...it came with 8 outs w/ the digital ins/outs, maxed out ram memory and a card reader...my OS is 1.12 dec. 4, 2000 (pretty old version).....

the reason why im asking is because i've went thru some old ish threads on here sayin i have to get version 1.20 to run my card reader???? but my card reader works fine and it never did freez up or crash on me yet (knocks on wood)..i just have to use a specific brand CF which is a SanDisk 1gb....

soooo, what is the benefits OR tweaks they made on version 1.20?? idk, im just paranoid that if i do upgrade, it can freeze up my MP...thanks....

Without going into too much...and I know this is not an answer...but if it anit broke...dont fix it...

lol, yeah...idk, i guess i just feel outdated and when i go to akaipro website, it has the 1.14 & 1.20 versions.....

OS1.14 works good and OS 1.20 is weird.

ohh, okay...yeah, i was skimming thru old threads and some guys runnin into problems on the 1.20 when they install their MCD....thanks for the heads up...

i have 1.2 and mine has never crashed. and i meen never. im not even knockin on wood cause it runs great.

I started out with 1.12 too. When I was running that, my mpc sometimes froze on me. I later upgraded to 1.14. Problem there was that I had a 1GB card and 1.14 only handles partitions up to 512MB. So I got 1.20 and my mpc never crashed since I installed it.

thanks for all inputs...i guess im stickin to 1.12 for now until it crashes/freezes up on me, then i'll try and upgrade straight to 1.20....
