corrupt CF files

once my Compact Flash card has been plugged into a USB reader on my laptop, it'll make some sounds not readable seemingly randomly.

when i try to load the file, it'll say "wrong file type" or something. Also it'll add a "y7" all the way at the end of the file name. so if the file is "kick1" it'll change it so its "kick1_________y7" and makes it an unreadable file.

you can't just go back and rename the file once you plug it into the laptop, cuz it's not changed, it seems that it's just the mpc reading it wrong or something

anyone got any ideas?

it may be that your computer is making the names too long, therefore the sound is unreadable, Im not sure the exact character length allowed on the 2000s. also, make sure you close your DAW when doing the file loading onto your CF.. it may be imprinting databases you don't want on the card.

are you using all WAV's,

are you having this happen even on a freshly formatted CF?

is the CF formatted by the MPC?

i load my breaks (.wav) onto the card from the laptop and then into the mp

the card's been formated on the laptop so it can be read by both computer and mpc.

it apparently is renaming the files, but when i load the CF card so i can see it on the computer, the names are the original names, not the whole "y7" thing at the end

it might be the USB card reader i'm using

what type do you use?
