MPC2kxl Memory ?

I was wondering if this happened to anyone else. I have the MPC 2kxl connected to a 250 zip drive. I tried to load the programs saved on the zip disk when "not enough memory" popped up on the screen. This happened to me before when I had a d16 hooked into the midi in of the mpc. I shut down the mpc, unplugged all the midi connections, turned back on the mpc, and the same thing happened. I checked the memory and it said I only have 2 megs of memory? I know this is not the case because up until this point I always had 18 megs and when I loaded the samples on the zip before they loaded no problem. Anyways make a long story short I was wondering if this happend to anyone else and what they did to handle the problem. Thanks

...never had that issue...whether i was usin' the internal or external scsi zip...humph...how many simms chips do you have installed...i had put an additional in mine...check into it...

could be bad memory or perhaps the ram fell out of it's slot. it happened to me awhile ago after i had a 32meg stick instaled for only a few months. i just opened my mpc up to see what was the matter and my ram was hanging out of it's simm slot. i definetly made sure i pushed it in real tight after that

You know what. This problem happens just once and a while ya know. If I turn the mpc off and on sometimes it will "catch? the memory. I checked to see how much memory it says I have installed and it said 18megs at one time then 2 another. Whats that about? All the searching I have done has said nothin about 18megs. Is there something wrong?

what you need to do is to take it apart remove the memory and then re install it...... if it continues it may be a sign that your memory is about to become a memory
