"Cut-Itself"-Function

Hi,

I have a problem with my MPC 2000 XL. I don't want the samples to play simoultaniously, but that Sample 1 (on Pad 1) stops playing as soon as I hit Pad 2 (with Sample 2 starts to play), or that Sample 1 stops playing and starts from the beginning as soon as I hit Pad 1 again. How can I do that?
What I want is comparable to the "Cut-Itself"-Function in Fruity Loops, if that is helpful for anybody.

im not sure if this is exactly the same for the 2kxl but on the 1k you go to MODE>>>PROGRAM>>>PARAMS and then im guessing that it will be set to poly, you want to change it to mono. thats how you do it on the 1k, im guessing it will be pretty similar.

there is no "mode"-button on the 2k xl

The thing is you can only mute two other pads with the xl. There are workarounds but the os only lets you choose two different pads to mute.

This is how you do it:

Go to the program menu, hit the pad you wanna assign, change poly to mono in the parameters screen. If you press open window you can choose two additional pads to mute.

or chop correctly.. by correctly i mean to achieve what your trying to do. Faster and more control imo. If your on the 2kxl try chopping your samples in the zone screen of the trim window. May or may not fix your situation. Good luck.

Is it possible to change the pitch of a sample with the 2k xl (with the actual speed of the sample staying the same) ?

you can adjust the pitch and then timestretch it back to the same length.

When you assign your sample in the program menu, you have a parameter tune. Negative values make your sample slower, positive values make your sample faster.

You can also do the same in the trim screen -> parameters screen.
