How to Create Folders

hey ive searched this site but cant find out how to do this on the 2000xl. I cant connect my mpc to the computer yet so thats out of the question. How do I create folders to save my samples in? Also do you guys have any tips on organizing samples within the mpc?

yo nga u dont think im sittin there w the manual in front of me, i just got my sht workin yesterday. I have the old XL which in the manual doesnt have sht on makin folders b...but i just went upstairs and found out how anyway. For anyone else who mite be wonderin just go to save then scroll over to folder name (i think it says root) hit open window and then new folder.

anyways tho do yall have some tips on organizing samples? I was thinkin maybe make a breakbeat folder, a snare folder a kick folder ect...and then a samples folder. And wat do yall save your samples as, just kick1 breakb1 ect?

thats all personal preference. I use floppies and separate my kicks, snares, cymbals (hi, open hi, crash, ride, etc,) and percussion (claps, cowbells, snaps, pops, etc.) As for melodic instruments, I save sounds under something like the original sample name or the instrument in question,

thanks for the reply. sht just seems overwhelming cuz it was so easy to organize on da computer. it seems like i would loose track of sht easily. anyone else wanna share their organization methods?

i use an internal hdd so it might be a little different for you. but heres what i do. i have folders for my drums. and folders for my cymbals. then a sample folder for stuff ive cut off lp's that i plan on using later. also have a folder for a couple standard programs i can load. thats all on my internal drive. any work that i do gets saved to my external drive. each seq and pgm into its own folder together. that way i never get it mixed up with my raw files on my internal drive. plus when i want to load a project i just go to the folder its in on the external drive and all the files are there for it. no searching at all. load the pgm and the seq and its ready to play.
