Salvaging beats from zip disks

Recently installed a card reader drive on my2000XL. However, I got rid of my old internal zip drive (which was probably on its last leg anyway), and I want to save whatever's left of those old zip disks. Some of those beats aren't even a month old. Someone gave me a USB zip drive for free, and I connected it to the computer thinking I could load them onto there, then connect a USB CF drive to it and get the files that way, but I think there was something wrong with how it reads files with names over a certain amount of characters. I keep looking for an external SCIS zip100 drive, but they're not turning up. I'm thinking that's the only way I'll be able to save anything, if at all. Is that my only hope?

Yea, that would be the easiest way. They are all over eBay usually for cheap.

The only problem is the intermidiate PC and the Windows it's running. So, yep, throw that away and get a SCSI zip drive to tranfer everything as normal.

find a machine with win98, and copy the zips to its HD, or Cf card

its the mpc that doesnt read more than 11 characters per file not the computer. so load those beats on your mpc and trim the file name length. you may want to get that registry edit so that windows wont alter your zip....that can be found here....

download the registry file and import it. that should solve your problem.
