Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So ive got a song playing in song mode on my 2000 and ill be playing some keys ( connected via midi ) and i hit a note and one of the pads will trigger, how do i turn this off?

change it from

DRUM1: Device 1a to
MIDI: Device 1a

or what ever channel your using.

its a little different on the 2000. but thats basically it right there.

change DRUM to MIDI

and change the channel to which ever midi channel you're using on the keyboard.

i did this and the pads are still triggering in song mode...

The MIDI Settings of the Sampler

¥ Local mode:
This separates the connection between the internal sampler and the
drum pads. Set this OFF when you are not using the sequence function
of the MPC2000 and using the pad and sampler with another
sequencer. This way the drum pad data will not go to the sampler
and will be output from the MIDI Output. The sampler will generate
a sound from the data coming in from the MIDI Input.
