Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By blue-audio Sat Feb 02, 2008 4:48 pm
I know that this is a perennial question that pops up now and agin. I can download a new OS easily enough, and I can download OS Maker, but I can't get OS maker to run properly on any machine, XP, Win98, or even as DOS.

If anyone (here in the UK) is prepared to send me a floppy with the OS on it I'll be happy to pay for there trouble by paypal.

Failing that, does anyone have any other ideas as to getting a working copy of OS maker????

Yours sampleless,

Bart

Anything that will get my MPC2000 (not XL) up & running again, though I think that 1.72 is the most up-to-date version.

OK, maybe I'm missing something, but is there a reason you're not just downloading the OS, unzipping the 2 files to a floppy, and going on your merry way? I've created OS 1.72 disks with Windows XP, and I think W2K also, but I'm sure about Xp. I've done the same thing with putting the OS on a Jaz cart also.

Peace,
KM

The 2000 OS need to be written to floppy by using a program called OS maker. I can't get OS maker to run, that is the problem!

You dont need the OS maker, just unzip the file and put the 2 files on the floppy, put it in the MPC and bam there you have it.

Yeah why do you need OS Maker? Just do what he said above.

press f8 when xp is booting up, go into the command prompt and use the OsMaker from there. i had the same issue when updating the e4xt OS.

We I've finally resolved the problem, so I thought I'd share my results here. The answers given above by texasrida1 was fundamentally correct - the problem I was having was simply that my stash of floppies were so old and manky that the MPC wouldn't have it. Went and bought some fresh ones, no problem, I'm up and running again!

Thanks guys!
