jus incase anyone still cares i managed to get to the bottom of the scsi issue!
cause i got the iomega zip 100 plus external zip drive it doesnt come with the right lead. i got the correct lead to connect to the mpc but it's got a male connector which wont fit into the back of the scsi where it needs to go. Despite hitting up numerous computer/music shops they were useless, but eventually i found you can get an adaptor which plugs into the lead coming out of the mpc and connects it properly into the zip drive, now everything works perfect.
its amazing some of these so called specialist shops had no idea the adaptor existed, it does!
