Filtering??

Can anyone explain filtering on the mpc 2000xl, i have no manual?

I just looked at this post because I didn't know what he was trying to say with the filter. I have a mpc 2000 classic and I don't like the filter. It sound like I just put a blanket over the tweeter...lol. Not a real deep filter like the original akai s950, you know the old Pete Rock"Reminisce" type filter. Is there a update that I can download, or is there an internal effects for the mpc? I remember when I first bought my mpc a red letter came with it and I remember something about a better filter. Can someone let me know about that. Is there another update for the MPC classic besides the 1.7 version? Thanx in advance.

The 2000 classic's most current version is 1.72, which is like four or five years old. The update doesn't do anything for the filter. I don't like the sound of the lowpass filter either but there's ways to work around it, like do some heavy eq'ing before you sample or try an external filtering module like the mfc42 by akai or an electrix filter factory.

So what is the MFC 42 I tried to look it up on ebay but I couldn't find anything? I did check on the eb 16 and it's like an inside effects unit. I can get that off ebay for around 160 bucks. thanx in advance.

somebody needs to wire the s2000 filter card into the mpc.
