Is this possible without quantizing the whole sequence? Say I want my bass and drum tracks quantized and I have a string sample I want to lay down, but I dont want it time corrected (Sorry, Im prolly gonna get a RTFM, but its worth a shot)

yea i had a question about this and after someone told me that you have to hit each note you wana quantize different i decided to do a test. on the mpc it quantizes tracks seperatly with time correct. so you can go to your hi-hat track (even if you have more than 1 hat on the same track) and quantize that but the other stuff will remain unquantized.

Quantization only affects what you record after you change it. You can have 10 tracks all quantized to 1/16 with 54% swing, then change the swing -- it won't affect anything on the previously recorded tracks.

^^ thats not true. you can quantize something after its recorded. its not quantizing the tracks, its quantizing the pad. so whatever sound is on that pad, it'll add quantize to. hit open window on the timing field, hit the pad you want to add quantize to, pick your settings, select which bars you want it to affect, hit do it.

i put one step in bold because if you dont select the bars, it will do NOTHING.

Not true, Im 350 km from the lab/mpc/MANUAL on a work site for the next 2 weeks. I drop the rtfm bomb often enough I shouldnt have even asked, but I had an idea in my head and I havent ever tried it since most of the time I run my ish with no TC, so I just wanted some clarification. Thanks for the response, when I get back to the lab Ill have to piss with the quantize settings a bit and figure things out.
