Whats good everyone i had a question about pad muting on the mpc 2000 classic not xl. When i got my sounds all chopped up and im ready to mess around with them, is there anyway to set all the pads to mono and be muted by all of the other pads? I find it very tedious to individually set all of the mutes manually, and there are only two pads that can mute another pad. If this makes sense to you classic users can you lend i hand, ive searched the manual and found nothing. If not im down with manually setting up the mutes, just wondering if there was an alternative?

Only the newer MPCs (1000, 2500 etc) have mute groups for all pads.
As you've realised, its a 2 pad limit on the 2000, and XL for that matter.
Setting the pad to note off and holding down for the required duration is the workaround for me. You can also get some nice 'choppy' effects using this method.
Having used a friends 1000, I find the mute groups a great feature, but it can make you lazy I reckon. You can just set all the pads to the same mute group and trigger one after the other, but in my opinion this can get predictable. A nice bit of silence between some chops gives it a bit of 'funk' :)
