Changing Pitch & Tempo, Independently

I just started sampling with my MPC a few weeks ago. I've done some work changing the pitch of the sample with the Tune function under the Trim menu, but when doing this it also changes the tempo of the sample as well. Is there a way to change either the pitch or the tempo independently?

I'm currently looking through the manual right now to try to find the answer to this, but if anyone can help me out as well it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

on the xl there`s a tim stretch function that might fit your needs....no way on the 2000 classick..
that`s why you have to use your mpc like a sword...chop,chop,chop!
