How can you get your mpc to playback audio, by just playing back recorded midi notes? I set up a midi track and recorded some notes from the mpc set DRUM1: 1adevice1, to a cubase midi track. It recorded the midi, but it wouldn't playback as audio.

On the same token for example, I can get my synth to record a midi track and it plays back with the audio. Where as I tried this with the mpc and no audio playback just silent midi notes. Appreciate it yo

MIDI only records data(notes and messages), not audio.

The difference.... Your synth has an sound module in it(when recording MIDI notes, you can assign those notes to a particular sound in the synth, and it will play those sounds back as those notes). The MPC doesnt have a sound module, it has a sample engine, so therefore, you would have to assign those notes to a particular outboard sound module to play those MIDI notes that it recorded.

To replay what you have played, you need to send those MIDI notes/messages back to your sound module that you recorded the notes from(unless it was just a MIDI keyboard, you would have to send those a different sound module that can play those sounds).

thanks

Right now in ableton live I can't seem to route the mpc's midi channels to the midi channels in software. For example I can record a single hi hat and get it to play back with midi, however if I want to lay down a kick I change the drum track on the mpc then the hi hat I just recorded in software becomes the kick drum..?
