As long as the CDROM drive is a SCSI drive and is a compatible manufacturer, then it should work fine for your MPC2000. Brands that generally work: Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic. Brands to avoid: NEC.
do you have to use a external cd rom or can it be a internal one if it is internal wouldnt i need a case for it. also can i use a ide cd rom and just use a scsi to ide cable . sorry to jack this thread
You can get just a SCSI CDROM drive but you will need to mount it in a case in order to use it with your sampler. And your CDROM drive must be a SCSI drive - those IDE-to-SCSI cables do not work with samplers.
