"Is it possible to record live vocals to a track on the mpc 2000xl? Is it possible to use somekind of analog-digital converter to make it work?"
Yep, it's called a microphone! haha (I had to be a smart-ass for once)
But on the serious tip, I did this once before a few years ago. I wanted to see the MPC play back a beat with vocals when I hit the play button. I was kinda cool making it happen, but it was a LOT OF WORK. The easiest way is to record it onto another device (Audacity) and then sample it back into the MPC. The reason I say this is because you may have to do some minor timestretching here and there, and if you've never stretched anything more than a few milliseconds on the 2000XL, it will take FOREVER, and if you don't at least have and XL then you simply don't have this option at all. Other features like compression will be really helpful for making the vocals sound better in the MPC. Also, recording off another medium make it easier to record. You can always rewind a certain part and know that the tonality from the vocals won't change. Try asking your Singer/MC to re-do a certain part 4-5 times because you didn't sample it on time; after a while, they will get tired and it will show in the performance.
