Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So I've taken hours to scour these forums and have yet to get a clear answer that works. Hopefully some of you guys can enlighten me!!! Here we go with the Scenario....

So a while back I saved some beats onto my zip disk (only have external zip plus original floppy) for a beat battle. I went back regularly to update the beats and loaded/saved without a problem. Then, when the battle took place I tried to load one of the beats and my MPC 2kxl froze. Shitty right???? I'm thinking that there was a magnet in my wallet and maybe it came close to the disk and f'd it up...
Anyway, so whenever I tried to load this beat I got the same problem and I just gave up on that disk. So about a year or so later and I come across the disk and I try to load it. All of a sudden a hear a light 'pop' through my speakers and my MPC gets knocked out. When it "comes to" all the lights are on and it says "insert mpc2000xl disk". So I downloaded v 1.14 onto floppy and popped it in. NO go, it says "Boot Rom v1.0" What??? Do I need to find v 1.0? Where can I find that. I called dude at VST, and he said that my MPC probably needed to be "Reflashed" and that I'd need to take it in. Then he suggested that I check it out with you fine folks to see if there were any answers here. I'm trying to be thorough... Any thoughts??? Questions>? Comments?? Not sure what to do. Thanks

could be a number of things, but you probably popped your scsi fuse. happens alot.
i can't see why you cant reflash from floppy, try re-downloading the os and check its file size is correct.
do you recall a time making or removing the scsi connection whilst the machine was powered up?
then i think thats your answer.
solution, get an ide or scsi 3.5" internal ZIP drive and replace your floppy. can be had for $10 these days.

spill the beans on a card reader and don;t look back.
