Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello again,

Is it normal that everytime you bang your pads on 2000xl it keeps loud clattering (dunno if its the right word. Brassy noise could also describe it). Apparently somekind of circuit board might be a bit loose. Everything works fine though. I have also noticed that my pads are veeery stiff (compared to other 2000xl I tried). It might be that the mpc has not been used very often? Or the pads has been changed recently? I also opened my mpc and checked that everything is fine.

Is there anything to try for?

Im just asking because my girlfriend is loosing her mind because im banging my mpc too damn loud :D

There is a metal plate that the pads and senor sheet sits on which is held down by screws.
Your screws could have came loose.
As for the stiff pads... most MPC2000XL's I've tried out have the same feel. If you want to feel what stiff pads feel like, try the MV8000/8800 pads!

Practice and time makes for softer pads.

Some of the MPCs do this, it also depends I think on what sort of surface you have it on, for example a solid table or a quiklok stand.
I have had 2 MPC 2000 classics and both made a rattle when you struck pad 13.
A friends MPC 2500 which he had a on a quiklok also used to make a bit of a clatter as well. He put this down to the bottom plate, but all the screws seemed ok, so he just learned to live with it.
