Not hearing sound from drum samples!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

So I bought an MPC 2000xl and have a zip drive as my SCSI. I also bout a zip disk loaded with alot of drums, claps, etc. So I load a sound and press play to preview it, I hear nothing. I assign the sound to a drum pad and press the pad I also don't get a sound and the main volume is all the way up. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or is the whole sound not working at all?

Where is the sound going? MPC L/R audio outs to...?
Did you try the headphone out?

Naw I just tried to play it as soon as I loaded the drum sample but couldn't hear any sound. I'll try the headphones.
