Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Sol Adio Sat Nov 22, 2008 4:39 pm
Looking for Pad Sensor Plate replacement for 2000xl pro studio +. Every place that would have the parts in retail says that they are no longer available, unless I was to find someone sitting on an MPC, willing to part it out. If there is no one that has one for sale, then I'm willing to part mine out as well. I have the full memory upgrade, the Akai EB16 Effects option card, a customized case that I painted myself (long after the pads went out) as well as, everything else your 2000xl could be missing, except for the 8 outs board. That went to my homey that really needed it.

Either hit me back here in the thread, PM me, or you can drop me a line at my email, [email protected].

Hopefully someone can help me get the old tank back up and running... if not then she's gotta be scrapped. I have a baby on the way and my MPC1000 does the trick for the producing I do now.

If I have no reply within a couple days, then Im going to be contacting MPCSTUFF.com, where they have a buy back option through their sales dept. Im sure they dont pay much for parts in order to resale them with a higher mark up. Id rather chop her out to a real head that could use the pieces for good instead of greasing the commercial e-machine.

Peace.

Do you mean you want to buy the actual pad sensor "sheet" or the metal plate that the pad sensor sheet is glued to?

Thats what I need. Preferably already on the plate, but if not, then just the pad sheet. the ribbon on mine is visually burned out in specific spots, so only pad 7 works. I need a new pad sensor sheet to get her back up and running. But I think I might just have to end up scrapping her out and calling it one.

I did this on a friends XL that had the same problem... the burnt spots I noticed was just built up corrosion.
I used a light grit sandpaper and carefully scratched away the burnt spots on the pad sensor sheet's contacts (bottom part of your picture). Wiped away the contact area with a clean cloth. Reinstalled it and worked great after that.

tried VST and mpcstuff, as well as, a couple other places that actually do the repair. All have told me that they have discontinued certain parts for the 2000xl, 3000, and 4000 to make more production on their newer "flagship" ship models. So its virtually impossible to get the older machines repaired unless someone parts one out. Im going to try the sandpaper trick and if that doesnt work, keep looking around for a tad bit longer. If I have no luck, then I'll be the poor bastard parting mine out. Both vst and mpstuff said they buy back old machines, they just never gave me a quote. If I do not like their quote, then I will be parting mine out on ebay. Ive seen the eb16 card go for 250 easy just by itself. I also have a custom painted casing. Not to mention, everything else on the machine works fine.

I hear headphone jacks and power buttons are in demand right now ;)

@ Sol Adio... Try and PM Dstruction here on the forum. I know he has an extra MPC he uses for parts.
I don't know if he has the 2000 or 2000XL though. Make him an offer.

Hi! AKAI assistance told me that there is a possible replacement for akai mpc 2000 sensor sheet with second series of MPC 2500 sensor sheet, this is the code they told me:

Part Code is OTM10030 - Sensor Pad Sheet (2nd version) - MPC2500

do you know someone had tried this?

I think the pad sensor sheet for the 2000 and the pad sensor sheet for the 2000XL are totally different.
I was looking at that a few months back when VST was selling them both.
