that is NOT a "q-link fader"
it's called a note variation slider.

Can you explain what exactly you are trying to do because I am not sure I understand what you wrote.

other than moving the highlight area while i'm chopping i never used the variation slider for anything.

i know you can use it to tweek a sound but never bothered to use this method. doesnt seem very practical. or i just dont know or care to learn how.

Just replace it, at this website 'Cimple Spares', London-based, you can get one for 2 quid, and shipping was 5 for me (for international airmail to the Netherlands).

If youve got a bit of soldering experience, its pretty easy, and if you dont DO ASK someone with some experience to help you.

Why do cats sleep so hard on the NV Slider???

Assign a Cymbal sound to a pad and set that pad to the NV Slider with decay........your NV Slider is now the foot pedal for your hi hat. There are sooo many tricks that can be discovered by playing with it. Ive seen video of a dude usind the NV slider to mimic a crossfader to add cuts to his beats without any decks.

Them sliders you rock make em NV! lol

It's a HIGHLY slept on feature.. Can be deadly if used correctly.

yes the NV slider is a great friend to the MPC user (i wish rohan would put this in the next valixii upgrade for the 3000!)

weather quick trimming or tweaking a sound... or adding some effects to a sound...
i dont have the FX board so i use it for a type of phase efx or flanger it has a lot of good uses...

im not much of a chopper but (maybe some times but im most def dont just hit 16 chops and go)

i use it to see what different areas of the sample will sound like and its much faster than zone, edit, do, it just shirft+NV slider and boom im all over the loop!

check it out sometime if you have never used it you may find it very practical in use
