since ive been in this forum, I have heard many beats, alot of talent. I am also getting an ear for the 2000. For example, right when I hear the beat I know its a 2000. It's interesting. Is it me? Am I hearing things? Its kinda like how I can spot the sp1200 in a song etc...

I mean, I like it, its a cool characteristic, like how we notice the sp 1200. It's new to me. Most people here have 2000's I feel left out with a 60. But I love the 60 like a brother. It's just interesting, I think its dope, like a concave, tunnel type of sound.

Don't feel left out because you got Grandpa!! Most of the stuff translates across well. Man 6 months ago there was only 3 cats on the 60 forum!!

I can recognise the 60 sometimes in tracks. it has a particular sounds and after hearing some beats where you know it was used you learn how the nrecorded sound sounds.

The MPC has a particular swing in the sequencer that reveals the sound to me...Plus, ALOT of producers use the MPC 2000/XL.

About the 60, that's where I started....I will be snatching one off of Ebay when I find the right one....Plus, I'm still trying to get adjusted to my 2000XL interface which slows my efficiency (why in the hell did they switch the pads from one side to the other?!).

because they thought most producers are left handed? Naw, it was probably to get around roger Linns protected Ideas, he had a very good intelectual property contract, but not much business sense of his own at the time.

Yea I wanna get a 60... I currently have a 2000XL.... My next drum machine will either be a 60 or SP1200... I'm feelin the SP 1200 cause drums bang hard as f@ck in that piece... How's it compare to the 60?...

Matt, the 60 upgrade reminds me of the 1200 cause of the tunning and decay. The 60 has more sampling time, way better pads and overall is a better machine. I have an sp12 turbo which I want to run with my 60, after having the 60 for about a year, I dusted off the 12 and found myself missing the pads. The 60 is also 12 bit so you get the grit.

Now, having said all that, the 1200 is dope, love that sp sound. If I had to pick one it would have to be the 60 with the 3.01 upgrade. get both

I can't tell the difference between any of the MPC's.. even a MPC-60 vs mpc2000XL would only show a little difference in sound, and by the time you mix and master, the 2000 doesn't even sound like itself anymore. If you sample with an Emax/S-950/s-3000, your mpc2000 can sound exactly like the sp-1200/mpc-60/mpc-3000.

WORD! It's not like hearing beats from a Tr808 or a Tr909 where you can just pick out what drum machine the beats came from.
But thats just me... and roxstar  .

i can hear the pad attack and release on the 2000. I can also hear the digitalness to the 2000, its hard to explain, but i can hear it....like a certain tingy sound to it.

I know its not me though, cause if i stick the same sample in my triton, it doesnt sound the same, or if i control via midi, the response is differant.
