SCSI JAZ ZIP w AUTODETECT

recently i had this problem with my mpc2k
anytime i try to load files i've saved on my jaz drive it says SCSI READ ERROR!!,this happens even when i try to save files.
i think it's a problem with my jaz drive.
yesterday i tried to link to the sampler a ZIP 100 PLUS with an autodetect scsi-parallel port that my mpc doesn't recognize (SCSI NOT READY) ,after this i was thinkin that it might be a problem with my mpc.
anyone knows if an mpc 2k it's not compatible with a ZIP that has an autodetect scsi port.

I had a 250 zip that kind of gave me the same problem.As soon as i switched to a 100mb with the scsi id on the back it worked fine.Look on the back of your zip and it should say scsi id 5 and 6.Just put it on whatever id and reconnect it and you should be fine.You can also use a 250.That should work.

Maybe not.Make sure you have a scsi and not a parallel zip.I know that may sound dumb but it does happen.Believe Me.

I think you mean like a cd type drive right?I have one that connects through scsi and you can daisy link them.(Your zip and cd drive)I'm not quiet sure how to daisy chain cause mine has outputs so i just connect it like you would any other type of equipment,through the inputs.But if that's what you have yeah you can use scsi....Peace

The MPC takes up SCSI ID 6 so any device you connect has to be any other ID with a ZIP that means 5 since it only gives you two options for SCSI ID ( 5 or 6 ) When you try to connect your Jaz drive be sure it is on SCSI ID 4 and powered on, your MPC will not find it if it is off. Same for the Zip. I have heard bad things about Zip Plus drives with the "auto detect" SCSI vs. Parallel. Try to find an old fasioned 100 MB SCSI Zip, those work the best. I have a Jaz drive on ID 4 a Zip on ID 5 and a CD-Rom on ID 3 all of which are working fine (knock on wood) If this does'nt work check your cables, they could be bad. Lastly if you've done all of the above and still nothing you may have blown the SCSI fuse

Djames how did you daisy chain all your drives......?

each scsi unit has two ports to connect cables to.......so from the mpc which has only one port>>>>>>>to the zip drive>>>>>>from the zip drive to the cd-rom>>>>>>>>>>from the cd-rom to the jaz drive.............. make sure each device is set to a different id number also you can run a search on google for how to daisy chain
