You know what nevermind you installed it wrong I am thinkin of the 3000.
If 2Meg shows, then the MPC did not recognize the memory. It may not be installed correctly. If 18 meg shows, then the MPC recognized one 16 Meg chip (16 extra + 2 install = 18 meg). If 32 Meg shows then all is OK. If anything else shows then there may be serious problem since these are the only possibilities.

gota agree with texas, ram can sometimes be a **** to seat. its hard because you dont want to break it, iv built quite a few pcs and id say about half the time when i booted it up i hadnt seated the ram properly (and the heatsink, bastd stock factory ones take forever, click one pin in and another 2 pop out)
so yeh id try reseating it so it clicks.

peace.

where are you getting it says 10mb from? dont mean to make you sound dumb or anything but are you sure your not looking at sample time ?? (its at 10s by default, or at least mine is :? ) hit open in the sample mode and see what it says there.

having two 16mb sticks in ther and the mp only recognizing 10 just dosnt make sense. if one of the sticks is bad youd only get 16 and if they were both bad you get nada likewise if ther both good theyd show up 32 so having a number that isnt 16 or 32 show up in that box is news to me. i dont think iv ever heard of that happening across any medium????? :?

peace.

2k/2kxl has 2mb by default.

10mb IF you have a signle 8 mb stick in there.

If you are showing 10mb installed, and you say you have 2 sticks installed, that's telling me that one of those sticks is 8mb and the other stick doesn't work, OR you may have two working 4mb sticks installed and you THOUGHT they were 16mb each.

When 32mb is installed the default 2mb is skipped.

I will explain... Before when i didn't have the 32mg memory stick, sometime when i open up my mpc it was write that i have 10 mg but the quality was realy realy poor. I install the 32mg correctly ( i thin that because i take 30 min to look and try different manner to putting in) but my mpc doesn't recognize it. Can it be a Mpc probleme and not a memeory problem?

think thers bit of a language barrier problem here........you had 10mb before? but the quality was poor.......of what the sound?

so far i got two ideas of whats going on but since you didnt answer what i askd ya before i cant tell you if either are right ???
1. the ram you have installed works fine and your reading the 10 to be the 10second of sample time that it is set to. (if you move the cursor over this '10' and then rotate the jog wheel it will extend the time you can sample for with 32mb)

2. you have bought some bad ram/different sized ram than you thought and that is why you are not getting 32mb

to find out how much ram you got:
SHIFT sample (4)
OPEN WINDOW '......the sound memory window will appear regardless of the cursor position...........'

the screen will then tell you how many megabytes you have installed.....
