Looping question

Is it possible to set it so I can press a pad and it loops continuously until I hit the pad again?

I swear I read about a trick to do this, but it was a long time ago.

Why don't you just sequence the loop :oops:

simple but effective. lol people just want to do things the hard way. i don't get what people are trying to do sometimes.

I cannot recall a SINGLE time EVER that I have not sequenced a loop so that it comes back around and loops
IN the sequence. Of course I know how to tune a loop perfectly and all that but, why do all that when I can just sequence it.

Loop and Loop are two different things.
If we talk about a loop kind of a drumloop or a bassline loop: Sure you're right Lampdog. I cant see a reason to not sequence the the loop.
But if we are talking bout an "single note loop" like a single horn note (looped to get a longer note) then I can understand Johnnythefox. For live perfomance it could be useful to hit a pad to start the note and hit it again to end the note.
But I dont know a way to do this.

Oh and I know. There are some examples were people sequenced an "single note loop" without the loopfunction.

I bet J wants a drum loop.

Making single note loops is not mentioned every single day as it's an advanced technique that not many starters
care about right off the bat....

about looping one note:I watched a video of wajeed on red bull music academy (http://www.redbullmusicacademy.com/vide ... /lectures/)where he says he looped a 808 bassdrum to play a bassline.....
tried many things but couldn`t make the bass keeping one note to play it as long as I want....any ideas on this? :?:

You loop the kick drum and then tune it to the pitch of your track. The 808 Kick will play as long as you hold your finger on it. So once you have tuned and looped properly than you hit 16 levels and and start messing with the notes.

You don't loop the whole bassdrum. You only loop a small portion at the end. This works best with an 808 kick because it has a very long release. You just have to make sure the loop points are at zero-crossing points of the waveform so it sounds smooth.

I get the question, but I'm not sure on the answer.

It seems to depend on the prog I have loaded, and I made the all the same way, but haven't dug in to figure this out yet.

For some of my progs, if I hit and hold a pad, a hi-hat for instance, it will keep repeating that HH until i let go of the button.. but other times, i just get my one-shot if i sustain the note.

This is because of not one but several settings in params on your loop.

I know exactly what your talking about. Experiment with different settings in PARAMS for that loop and you will find your answer.



@ Maxillaa, do the same as I suggested above..

You guys need to experiement with PARAMS settings. Stop getting tripped up so easily.
Experimenting and seeing what happens is part of growing.

to get a decaying looped note you have change decay from END to START in the params screen then bump up the decay value. Now you can just hit the pad and the loop will fade out while looping.

I know its probably not that relevant to drum loops but it is a cool looping trick. This is the same kind of decay looping you could do on the sp1200
