By louis futon Thu Feb 12, 2009 12:01 pm
hi, i got my first mpc 2000xl a few days ago and i am really amazed!

the only thing which seems to be broken is the note variation fader. i can´t do anything with it!

does someone know how i can fix it?

or, is it an os fault? i just found out, i have the os 1.20 on it without a flash card reader.

any suggestions?

thank you!

make sure you read the manual on how to use the note variation because its not just push the button and it works,it has to be used in a certain way,,,,but if it is broke go to mpcstuff.com and buy a new one and either install it or have somebody do it for you,,,i had to replace mine also and it works fine now,,,if u need any help let me know!!

"your welcome"

are you constintly hitting the pad as you move the slider?

if so then i would also say that the slider is your problem,,and like i said,if you want to buy one,i'll walk you through installation..

what you'll need is

a desoldering pump or desoldering braid
solder gun
solder
screwdriver(s)
new slider

im pretty sure theres 8 tabs on the bottom of the slider that need to be soldered to the board..these are tiny parts you have to solder so make sure you have patience and some kind of practice for this..as there are damageable parts on the curcuit board..or you could always have it sent somewhere if you feel you might not get it right,,,,,if you do take that route and have it sent somewhere,do me a favor and get an estimate and let me know what they say..

i dont know what kind of fader is used for the slider so im not sure how the inside of it works, but it could possibly need a cleaning, wich is done with "very" minimul amounts of rubbing alcohol...mine was completely damaged so i knew what it was,but i tossed it without tearing it apart, well this is about all i have hope it helps,,

is it smooth or rough?

it is smooth, but it doesn´t feel really good to me.

the problem is... i don´t know how it feels right.

i can only compare it to the faders of my vestax and rane mixers...
and compared to them it feels like sh*t!

u shouldnt compare them to your mixer because it should be tight and your mixer probably feels nice and loose,,,but if u tried everything and you think it is the slider,,buy one and if u cant do it and its too expensive to have someone do it,,i will be more than glad to do it for shipping costs,,tottaly up to you bro,,
