Hey guys.

Today I got my MPC2000XL-MCD.

It was pretty grimey so I took it apart, cleaned it, and put it back together. I must have gotten a bit of cleaning fluid into the machine because it wouldn't start up properly for about half an hour afterwards (I nearly had a stroke!) Anyway, it's going fine now - I rebooted it a dozen times in a row without any problems, so I reckon its ok.

Anyway does anyone have one with black knobs, black main buttons, and purple number buttons? The only pictures I've seen online are with white buttons and white knobs. I'm guessing one of the previous owners just modified it with black bits. Looks quite nice anyway. I'm thinking about spraying the cover, but not until I know the menu options backwards :P

I don't know why I'm bothering posting a pic. Everyone here has seen an MPC, but I kind of feel like I'm parading my new born baby :D

is the lettering glowing in the dark? or is it the screen making it look that way?
nice piece by the way

Not glow-in-the-dark just the usual white text and lime-green extras. Nice to know it's somewhat unique with the black bits. I'll probably customise it more at some point in the future. I've only been messing with it for a couple of hours and it has gone from "underwhelming", to "potentially a revelation".

The manual kinda sucks but I'll get there. I'll suppliment the manual with some experimentation, YouTube etc.

The SE versions, like the orange and the black+red+yellow, have those exact same colors on all buttons. You have the same rec gain + master vol. buttons too. What color is the thin line on the slider cap? The line on mine is yellow. It looks like they have used SE buttons and they got the new design faceplate and put it on or something I guess. And maybe later on they found out that they liked it better with white knobs.

Take a look at mine:

I just got her the black pads, and want to have a different color on the numeric buttons and open window sometime.
I straight up hate the purple colored numeric buttons, I had the same purple color on those buttons on my 3000LE too.

I don't think that a previous owner has changed all buttons, knobs and slider caps in the exact same colors as the SEs', I think your MPC might have been like that straight out the box.

Hey. The line on the NoteVar Fader is yellowy/lime - same as the little boxes under the numeric buttons.

Yeah it looks like mine is a semi-special-edition. LOL

All right, that may be glow-in the dark paint, mine has a lot of glow in the dark paint, all the yellow I think, and under the buttons as well if I remember right. But I think the blue case has yellow that not glows in the dark as well. You find it out if you can get your room completely dark and it has been given a lot of light, it shows if you use a photo-flash and flash it many times.

Seems like it might be an early MCD edition. Different indeed ;) Now: Is it a light mint green MPC text on the rear panel of the MPC? The SE models has that.

You could buy those blue cases from MPC stuff some time ago too.

Here's a over sized hi-res pic of the later buttons:
