what power cable do i need for the floppy drive?

i bought a mpc 2000xl without a floppy drive for a very good deal. i went ahead and bought a floppy drive with the cables. well it was described as having the cables, but the site wasn't updated. i know i should get compensated or whatever, but for right now i want to get this over with. the mpc should get here friday so i am hoping to everything by then. there is a computer store really close to my house. im just not sure what power cable i need.

heres is what i have so far. i took the ribbon from an old computer tower i have, but like i said i need the power cable. dont know why the picture is sidways. on my phone its fine lol.

btw do i have the ribbon plugged in correctly or is it backwards?

Atapi if you can find it, but ide is fine also. They are physically the same. Mcd's are same as that old pc's hard drive ribbon data cable, 40pin ribbon, power cable is the same as an old school pc hard drive too.

thanks for the suggestion but im fine with floppy. i plan to get a scsi zip drive sometime and in the future a 2500. so for now its ok.

plus for now i want to use the floppy since its what originally came with it. it will be a great learning experience and helps me with file management. i'll see if i need one in the future though. i was thinking about it already.

I think the power cable for floppies are called mini molex. But yeah, get a compactflash to IDE adapter... it's worth it for the price.

no, that is a mini molex to molex adapter... you want one that will be the smaller connector on both ends.

so the mini to mini molex is hard to find or something?

the cable in that pic is not the same as the one you posted above.. it looks similar but you aren't looking closely at the connectors..

anyhow, I am not arguing with you to try and help you... I hate it when you give the answer on what a person needs and then they want to argue with the answer.. get a damn mini molex cable.
