Hi guys, newbie here. I just copped a 2000XL on Amazon...

So, I figured I'd join these forums

I've been wanting to get my dusty fingers on an MPC ever since I discovered J Dilla and Araabmuzik a few years back.

So here's my little story... Ever since I was about eight years old, I began exploring the little finger drummer in me and started to (surprise surprise) finger and hand drum on just about anything I could get my hands on.

Fast forward a bit...

I've been an FL Studio user since 2009 and have gotten quite comfortable with it, but as soon as I saw Jay Dee and Araabmuzik working their craft on these machines... I was floored. They were basically just finger drumming on those pads and boom(bap), instant samples/drums!

So what would any reasonable natural finger drummer do? Start crate-digging of course! It's nothing worth bragging about, but my vinyl collection is about ~70 or so albums strong and will obviously continue growing for who knows how long.

Anyway, I just wanted to briefly intro myself, and I look forward in participating in your community.

My MPC will arrive in about a week.

Quick question... the product description says... "Includes full blown memory, Stand, USB zip drive, and 6 zip discs" and the pictures reflect this. However, the description from the seller (there are multiple sellers) simply says "Used - Very Good" while other sellers list things like a CF card reader and such, which obviously do not match the "Includes full blown memory, Stand, USB zip drive, and 6 zip discs" description. I'm sort of a newb when it comes to Amazon, I just want to know.. how do the product and seller descriptions relate to one another?

that seems odd... it's like they think every single used 2000xl looks the same. So all those listings are supposed to be the one in the photo?

That XL in the photo looks very clean, and in very nice shape... not even wear in the pads. If that happens to actually be the one you are getting it looks great, but how much? Some of those listed prices are insane.

And CF is better than zip disks.

Yeah... that's why I thought it looked funny... I contacted the seller about it, I'll see how they reply. As for the price:

Amazon marketplace deals tend to use a single picture to cover all the offers, so take no notice of the picture whatsoever. Each seller can put a unique description in the 'offers' section, but many don't even bother. Contact the seller to be sure of what you're buying, get them to send photos for second hand stuff IMO.

Get your hands on some of Tutor's finger drumming kits and you'll be in your element.

Thank you, that makes a lot more sense now. I contacted the seller and you are right-- their listing does not contain the full blown memory, stand, etc.

I requested a more detailed description, so I'll be waiting for their reply. They at least assured me that it is indeed in very good condition and if I don't like it they will issue a full refund if I choose to send it back. This being my first MPC, how much sampling time do I get with 2 MB?

Nevermind, a quick search tells me I get 22 seconds mono or 11 seconds stereo. I can work with that, I think.

Update: looks like I'll be getting the MPC and a power cord. I asked about the memory installed and such, but they don't know. That must be why they didn't have a detailed description on specs
