Creating beats from scratch on your MPC

Sample, chop, sequence, everything. How many of y'all do that?

I combine with Acid Pro and Reason most of the time....

I tried it like that but i think it's better when you have some sort of software.But i'm new to the mpc,so maybe after awhile i may just use the mpc only.

I don't have any software or anything so I'm forced to only do stuff on my XL. No big deal.

mpc and sample sources are all you need.. other pieces will complement your setup but te mpc really does it all for me..

I guess it depends what sort of music you are making. Most people who have MPCs get them because they want to make the type of music that you don't need much more than an MPC & a record collection for.

Sure, editing samples on a computer is easier, not that it is difficult on the MPC to start with, but does the extra time to transfer those samples between the MPC & computer really make it quicker?

Having said that I'm mainly making dubby, deep house with long, sustained synth pads which isn't so easy on an MPC. I did manage for four years, but I find Logic is a much more....logical way of making that music.

I might go over to solely using my MPC but I just find it alot easier to mess around with samples in Acid Pro and then later put em into the MPC and create the beat there...

I guess I need some more MPC experience before I can use it as a "standalone" beat machine.

all on mpc with a turntable and wax!!!

I do use other keyboards as well...but thats if im going for a particular style.....the majority of my beats are on the mpc alone.

I have noticed though, my best beats are all done on mpc alone!!!!!

i think thats because your skills are put to the test, and you dont have other equipment that may interfer or slow the process down.

really, any sampler/seq + vinyl does the trick
