Is it really bad to leave an MPC on for days at a time?

Hey if I have a killer track and am scared to lose one bit of programing, is it ok to keep the box on for 3 or 4 days at a time? Anyone have problems after doing so?

The sceen on the mpc is not going to last forever. It will start to show vertical lines after a decade or so untill it becomes unreadable, or the backlight could fail. The first is imposible to fix yourself, the second is not too much of a problem.
If you must leave your mpc on, the least you could do is turn down the contrast all the way (shift + jogwheel).

i leave my mpc on for days at a time and i dont notice the screen becomin less clearer but thats just me.

Some stuff is just not made/designed to keep powered on all the time.
Use common sense and save you gear from uneccesary wear and tear.

it also has alot to do wit the everment the mpc is in my screen went bad i had in a non central ac place while my homeboy has a spot in a bulding wit central ac and not too many people come through and it gets cold as ice and he has been leaving his mpc on for days for years and his screen is as new

i think the prob is somthing back there heats up and burn out

Yeah, uh... why don't you just save your work like everyone else? Just leaving it on isn't the safest option - what if someone in your house blows a fuse or there's a power faillure?

Not exactly enviromentally friendly either.

Leaving your MPC on is definitely not good . Doing so already cost me $150 (had to replace the screen) .

yeh i leave myne on cause my zip drives a peice of shit i got lines sowing up but they change in intensity its only got the one at the moment but that shif+jog is a good move i live in a cold as place so it never gets realy hot

i have to admit that i used to leave my mpc on for days until i started to notice those lines.

I have to admit that I leave mine on for days (sometimes weeks)! In fact it's been on for the last week and a half, but after seeing this thread I went up stairs, saved everything, and cut it all off!

The main reason that I leave it on is that I work with both an ASR-X, and an MPC, and if I have several samples in both it is a b*tch to reload everything everytime I want to work on it! Plus they share the same zip drive, and swapping that is more hassle.

I have read else where that leaving the MPC on is not too bad, BUT you should make sure that you have the XL version as you need to have the screen tilted up so that it doesn't catch heat from the MB.

i just got a used mpc yesterday, guy said it hadnt been used much.
i can see VERY faint vertical lines down the screen.
when contrast is as full as possible (viewable from all angles) i see no lines
when contrast is light i see them. they dont cover the writin n shit on the screen, they are kinda behind em, theyre bright to
are these THOSE lines are lines from the light or somethin??

please give me advice!
