Adding sample to programs

before i go into details i did try a search but came up with about a billion results, sorry if this has been discussed before. i'm also kinda new to this, i almost have it down, but it's been tough i had to learn everything by myself pretty much.

so i already have inputed all the drum sounds i want into a program. when i sample something and loop it, all the sounds from the program i loaded up go away. then i load it up, and then my sample is gone. i cannot figure out how to save the sample into the program.

Are you usin' different banks?Not to be an ass but sometimes it's as simple as that.It seems like you may be recordin' over the programs/sounds you alreasy have.And by the way what mp you usin'?

i put all my drum sounds on sound bank b, to leave sound bank a for the samples. i'm using an mpc2000xl

There should be no reason for that then.Put your drums down first.Don't change programs or nothin'(bottom right).Keep that off.Then go to bank B or whatever and chop your sample or loop it and then retry.If it happens again post up.

hmmm is there something wrong with what i'm doing?

1. first i load up the program w/ all the drums in bank b.
2. i then push sound bank a
3. i sample
4. i trim it, then slice sound etc
5. i loop the sample i want
6. i then select bank b but no drums come out.

Make sure your still on the initial drum program u put the drums down on I.e drum1

ur havin the same probs i was havin.... do everything you listed, but when it comes time to sample and chop or slice, instead of creating the new prgm when u slice, just say no, and u should try to assign the slices manualy one by one...that way u wont lose the drums in bank b. cuz onse u slice and create new pgm, u lose everything that u already had in all ur other banks. other fools could probly explain alot better than i. that might be what ur lookin fo........

You don't lose everything when you make a new program with zoning...

like bravo for instance.... im sure he could help you like a fat ass could help me....

but spectre, please elaborate......or further explain to me how i can chop a sample, create pgm with the choped sample, and not have it replace the sounds i already had....

It seems like you don't understand how programs and DRUMS work. Read the manual about those.

You can use up to four programs at once using DRUM1, DRUM2, DRUM3, DRUM4.

When you zone a sample and make a new program, it replaces your program on DRUM1. Just switch it back to your original program.
