What do you do while waiting for time stretch to complete?

I was just curious about what everyone on here does while they're like timestretching a 4 bar loop with the HFREQ ORCH-C preset? Usually shit takes about 20 mins to complete, if not more...

I usually do useful stuff like cleaning up some shit, fixing some cables, clip nails... and roll up ofcourse

I open Soundforge and timestretch about 100 other samples while Im waitin.........

I was JUST thinking that. Loves me some 8.0

I enjoy a nice dump, then i write a couple of books, and if I time it just right, I might bang my head against the wall...Usually when I'm finished with all that, it's done, and I can continue with my production...

And the worse part is, if the sample comes out sounding funny, you have to do it all over again (of course, only if you're not using a pc program to do this, which is much more efficient).

I never use timestretch but it sounds like it sucks

1. Gripe about the MPC1000 not having timestretch so I can wait for it too.
2. Read all the posts in the MPC1000 forum about the MPC1000 not having timestretch.
3. Wonder when the new MPC1000 OS will come out "with timestretch".

As a side note, I did some binary analysis on the MPC2000XL timestretch. If I recall right there are 3 quality settings. I did not find any difference between them. The quickest processing (was that setting of 1?) was just as good as the highest.

Tip: if you need to stretch anything significant, chop out the shortest section that you sould possibly get away with previewing. The time it takes will be significantly shorter and will let you know if the stretch you need to do will sound any good. Then apply to the larger sample and go take a break. If you have to timestretch to match a particular length, learn to use a calculator. With the sample length and desired legth it only takes a few seconds to figure out the exact stretch you need and you only need to stretch once in the MPC.

Dunno, maybe the long waits blur my hearing, but i believe C does sound better than A. A can really sounds sloppy and yknow 'aphex twin'-like. Not that I don't like AFX but I'd rather make that type of music intentionally instead of having it ruining my bangers

You could be right. My experience at that type of analysis long ago was still rather young. And I am not sure what test material I used. I really, really should do it again under a more controlled environment.
