Makin basslines with the mpc2000xl

How do you create "synth style" baslines on an mpc, like the Subtractor in Reason, no equing out the bass from a sample, just taping in the tones by yourself.

I got an midikeyboard.

i thought you meant makin it with just the mpc, in that case i bust 16 levels with mono and freak it.

i mess with the decay and sh*t too. flowers wit it

if I connect the keyboard to the mp, how can I for example load akai sample cd basstones into it?

the midi keyboard has no sounds in it.

You obviously know how to read and write, so I'm assuming that you don't know where to get the manual? Jesus...

1 Hook your MIDI keyboard to your MPC (MIDO out on keyboard to MIDI in on MPC).

2 Power up both units.

3 Load your bass sounds into your MPC.

4 Press the keys on your keyboard. Samples will play in your MPC, triggered by the MIDI connection from your keyboard.

5 Download the manual.

6 Read it.

7 Read it again.

8 Read it a third time.

9 Ask follow up questions.

im actually still trying to figure out how to spread my samples across the keyboard (there seems to be no way to do that). but i heard with a midi keyboard you can do that. not sure how, but heard it can be done. that would be how you would do it. send the sample to the keyboard and play it there.

if you cant do it that way, do it like d said. load that sample into the mpc and use 16 levels...

If you connect a keyboard to MIDI IN and play it on a drum track (so not a MIDI track) it'll play the samples assigned to your MPC pads. Was that what you meant?

There no way to automatically span multiple samples across a keyboard - the autochromatic function will spread one sample across the pads, 16 levels will re-tune one sample across bank A, but to work with a MIDI keyboard you need to re-number the pads in numerical order starting at A1, 35 and start spanning multiple samples across using tuning params.

There's quite detailed instructions on this and all the other multisampling techniques in the XL ebook

its called the autochomatic fucntion

It takes a single sample and spreads it across your MIDI controller, unlike 16 levels each note is chormatic which means it plays like A keyboard.

iTS ONE of the most powerful features that the MPC 2xl offers so i suggest you do your homework

But using your MIDI controller to trigger sounds [in your MPC] is VERY basic stuff and is covered in the manual, as well as ANY MIDI faq you can find.

Next time post this type of sh!t in the newb forum, and you won't get so much flak.

dude... this is a MPC Forum where people can ask questions... about anything relating to the MPC 2000, or XL..... whether its newbie or what.... he didnt understand so he asked, get off the man's back.... if you got a problem wit responding to his answer and u wanna trip and sh.t, dont say nonthin at all... i aint no moderator or nonthin, but each person on this forum deserves some respect about the question they ask, until MPC-Tutor says, "dont ask them types of questions" or someone else who handles this site, then, you personally cant be trippin over nonthin... if you dislike the question or gotta trip about answering the question like its a job that you wouldnt wanna work such as McDonald's, then dont answer
