Use more than 4 programs simultaneously

How do i use more than 4 programs in one sequence?
(got the 2000xl)
The program change function, i guess.
searched the board, read the manual, but
i just dont get it.
I know, how to use 4 programs,
but now im at the point, where i want
to use more programs.
things gettin more complex.

please help me

The 2000XL can only use a max of 4 programs per sequence. If you need more than that, you will have to move up to an MPC 2500 (or the Fisher Price 1000).

you can load more than 4 pgms into memory at once, as long as the total pgm count doesnt exceed the max sample ammount (256) i think. jujst use pgm changes in the step sequencer to change between them.

Sure...you can have more than 4 programs loaded...but you will only be able to play a maximum of 4 programs simutaneously....

Its pretty complicated though I still havent mastered it yet but I can get it to work sometimes. I think its just a fukin headache.

2kxl, what is it like 24 or 26 programs loaded into memory at once.
4 actively accessible and the others can be loaded in via program change via step edit. Your right it is a pain sometimes.. I've done it before.

If you are using percussion sounds or one shot samples, you will get ok results using the 4 programs and insert program changes in step edit.

However, if you assign more complex multi-sampled instruments (piano, strings, etc) to more than 4 programs per sequence..including using program changes...it is a complete mess....not just difficult. If anyone has mastered this, I would mos def like to know how.....I had sequences playin shite they were not suppose to play (when I used an XL).

And to clarify this...I am talking about sounds loaded into the XL and not program changes targeted at external MIDI sound modules.

And we are talking about that too, internal mpc sounds not module sounds.

I told u it was very difficult and Im still trying to perfect it.

I already know its difficult. For me..it was impossible to use more than 4 programs per sequence effectively. For you fellas claiming that its possible (not somtimes or under specific conditions), please educate a brother....and provide some examples..

somebody probly know a link to a tutorial or sumpin?
like i understand you, i have to assign a program change
to each single note, i want to be affected.
so: access stepedit, tell the note to use the change.
but in general it is possible to use more than 4 programs, right?

From my limited experience...no for what I tried to do (already detailed above). But I would like Jacpot or any other expert to help me out with this.....

Im not an expert Im an addict.

Make sure when u add the program change messeges u put them in a blank bar berfore the sequence starts otherwise it will only send the program change 1 time. This blank bar is important.

So...lets say, I have 12 tracks in a 33 bar sequence. In the first bar of each track, I will insert a program change to assign a different program to each track. Will this allow me to have 12 internal programs playing simutaneously? If so, than this is not difficult at all. However, I never got this to work properly (could be user error). Am I missing something here?

its not really described in the manual.
I know, i can create many programs, but in the program menu
i can only assign prog 1-4.
so, how can i use more than 4 programs at a time?
what is the S in S:Prog in the main menu?
what is the 1-16A, 1-16B?
How do i assign my programs to the tracks?
Many questions, but i just need a little hint, to get things goin,
will figure the rest out by myself.
